This is the working family guide. Open the Itinerary by day (tap a day up top): each day shows the group's booked activities and the Chambers family plan in separate boxes, with park suggestions alongside. Booking figures reflect the latest Epicurate itinerary (Private Chef removed, Baby Gear added; full pricing on the Lodge tab). The Hiking tab covers your flagged trails. Revised June 25, 2026.
Getting There
JAC is inside the park
Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is the only commercial airport inside a U.S. national park — you'll see the Tetons from the runway. The drive to Heartwood Lodge in Teton Village is about 14 miles (~20–25 min).
Late June / early July is prime Teton summer — long sunny days, wildflowers everywhere, and afternoon thunderstorms that roll in fast and clear out within an hour. Mornings can be genuinely cold (mid-30s°F), afternoons warm (upper 70s–low 80s°F), and evenings cool off quickly after sunset around 9 PM.
Activity daysClosed-toe shoes (required for horseback & rafting). Long pants for horseback ride. Quick-dry clothes for rafting. Hat for sun.
EveningsLight jacket or hoodie — the rodeo and the Aurora summit dinner get chilly. Layers for early Cowboy Coffee + Schwabacher sunrise.
KidsSun hats, warm layers for mornings, snacks for car rides. Bear spray is for adults only (available at Moose Junction or Jackson).
Teton Village & Surroundings
Heartwood Lodge sits atop Granite Ridge in Teton Village, which is a self-contained base at the foot of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The village has restaurants, shops, and the aerial tram (runs in summer — ride it for incredible views). The town of Jackson is about 12 miles south (~20 min). Grand Teton National Park's main corridor runs right past you.

The Private Chef dinner has been removed from the Epicurate itinerary — Tuesday's dinner is now a family cook night (Deakins, per the Chambers plan). Baby Gear Rentals were added for arrival day, and several activity times and details were updated. Full pricing and payments are on the Lodge tab.
Not all adults on every activity
The river day splits the group: 9 adults on whitewater, 7 on the scenic float. The horseback tour is a shared (not private) tour — 14 ride and 4 join for dinner only. Kids under 5 / under 12 are excluded from horseback (age 7+ / 47″ min) and whitewater. Plan childcare or an alternate for those slots.

The UTV tour and Bar T 5 Covered Wagon Cookout are not on the Epicurate booking — see the Other Activities tab if you want to add them.

Check-in is 4 PM at 7950 N Granite Ridge Rd. Once you're in, walk the village or ride the aerial tram for a first look at the valley. The lodge's full chef's kitchen is ready for the first night in.

The Private Chef dinner was removed from the booking. Tuesday evening is now a family cook night (Deakins) — fire up the outdoor kitchen and grill. Contact Epicurate if you'd rather re-add a chef.
Group splits — both run early afternoon9 adults on the whitewater raft (12:30 PM), 7 on the scenic float (12:15 PM); both check in at 945 W Broadway. You'll get wet on the whitewater — bring a change of clothes and water shoes. Confirm pickup logistics with Epicurate.

Jenny Lake Boating
Shuttle runs every 10–15 min; first boat is quietest. Cash gets the half-price fare — bring small bills. Short, scenic climb to Hidden Falls / Inspiration Point.
Make it longer or shorter
Short: boat + Hidden Falls + Inspiration Point (~2 hrs). Longer: continue up Cascade Canyon. Easiest: stroll the lakeshore. All options are in the Hiking tab.
Fine dining at 7,808 ft, reached by scenic gondola only (~20 min drive to Snow King, then up). Your reservation includes gondola access — no separate ticket needed (the Resy booking fee is refunded on your final bill). Still confirm head count (18), dietary needs, kids' menu, and the last gondola down 24–48 hrs out.
July 4th-eve traffic + layers
Jackson fills up for the holiday — build buffer into the Snow King drive (Hwy 22 / 89 crawl Friday PM) and expect tight parking. At 7,808 ft it drops into the 50s°F by sunset, so bring jackets.

July 4th airport warning
JAC is small and July 4th is one of the busiest travel days of the year. With an 8 AM flight, leaving at 6 AM is the right call. Allow extra time for the rental return and TSA; lines build fast even early. Check-out is 10 AM if anyone lingers. Bear spray can't fly — leave it at the lodge or gift it.

Flat, shady stroll along the Jackson Lake shoreline from Colter Bay, with big water-and-mountain views toward Mount Moran. About as easy as it gets — great for little legs or a rest day.
A gentle Colter Bay loop past two ponds that are a magnet for wildlife — moose, beavers, trumpeter swans, and birds. Bring binoculars; go early or near dusk for the best sightings.
Friday's swim spot. Shallow, sun-warmed water — the most swimmable lake in the park — on an easy, mostly-flat loop. Kayak/paddleboard friendly. Perfect for kids before the Aurora dinner.
Flat lakeside walking from the String Lake trailhead to sandy beaches with knockout views of Mount Moran. Go as far as you want and turn around — easy and shady. Pairs naturally with String Lake.
A quieter loop near Jenny Lake through the Moose Ponds — exactly the marshy habitat moose love. Easy enough for most of the group and a good wildlife bet right by the busy Jenny Lake hub.
Monday morning's hike. A rolling loop through meadows and lodgepole regrowth to a glacial lake right beneath the Teton front. Gentle, scenic, and not too long — add Bradley Lake to extend it.
Bradley shares the Taggart trailhead — most people loop the two together (~5.9 mi) for a fuller half-day. Forested, rolling, and quieter than Taggart alone, with a pretty lake tucked under the peaks.
Inspiration Point via Jenny Lake Boat Shuttle ★ FlaggedChambers plan

Thursday's hike. Take the first boat across Jenny Lake (cash = half price), then a short, rewarding climb past Hidden Falls to Inspiration Point's big canyon view. The shuttle does most of the distance for you.
The full loop around Jenny Lake — skip the boat and walk the whole shoreline, linking Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point along the way. Mostly gentle; a satisfying half-day with constant lake and mountain views.

Phelps Lake — Lake Creek & Woodland Loop ★ Flagged

A quieter corner of the park from the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve, looping Phelps Lake via the Lake Creek and Woodland trails to the famous jumping rock. Your list flags this loop twice (both directions) — same trail. Limited parking; arrive early.
The iconic turquoise glacial lake right under the Grand. The direct route — an unmaintained spur with a steep boulder scramble near the top. Not for kids, but a bucket-list payoff for strong hikers. Start early for parking.
Delta Lake via Taggart, Bradley & Surprise ★ Flagged

The long way to Delta Lake — a big backcountry link-up past Taggart, Bradley, and Surprise Lakes before the final scramble. A serious full-day effort for the fittest hikers; carry plenty of water and start at dawn.
All the way up Cascade Canyon to a stunning alpine lake beneath the Tetons' north side. Long but graded — take the boat shuttle both ways to shave ~4 miles. A classic big-day hike; watch the afternoon weather.
Rendezvous Mountain via Wildflower & Cirque ★ Flagged

The uphill counterpart to Wednesday's tram-down hike: climb from the village to the 10,450 ft Rendezvous summit via the Wildflower and Cirque trails, then ride the tram down. A sustained, serious climb with nonstop Teton views — carry plenty of water.
A big alpine loop from the tram area out to the Rock Springs bowl and back — high-country wildflowers and panoramic Teton views the whole way. For strong hikers with a full day; check JHMR trail status and lingering snow before you go.

Wednesday's adventure: ride the aerial tram up for waffles, then hike down the mountain on the Cirque Trail (1.8 mi) onto the Wildflower Trail back to the village. Almost all descent — hard on the knees, so bring trekking poles.
Monday's sunrise stop (not really a hike). A flat walk along a beaver-dammed side channel of the Snake with the most photographed Teton reflection in the park. Go at first light for glassy water.
Trailhead parking & timing
Popular trailheads (Jenny Lake, Lupine Meadows, String Lake, LSR Preserve) fill by mid-morning in summer — start early or use the lake shuttle. Always check the current park conditions for closures and bear warnings before you go.

Great Jackson Hole experiences that aren't part of the confirmed Epicurate package. UTV and Bar T 5 were originally considered for this trip — the rest are general suggestions worth adding for any open window. All have direct booking links.

UTV Off-Road Tour — Gros Ventre
4-hour guided UTV tour through the Gros Ventre Range. Backcountry trails, dusty & bumpy. Closed-toe shoes, layers, sunglasses required. ~$2,290 for 10 adults at the originally quoted rate.
Horse-drawn covered wagon ride up Cache Creek Canyon, Dutch-oven cookout, live cowboy music show. ~3 hours total. Family-friendly — kids love it. Held nightly in summer. ~$120 adult / ~$70 child.
9-min ride to 10,450 ft for 360° Teton views. Famous waffles at Corbet's Cabin at the top. Summer hours ~9 AM–5 PM. ~$50 adult / ~$30 child. Steps from the lodge. (Also the start of Wednesday's Cirque + Wildflower hike — see Hiking tab.)
Beyond Aurora dinner: alpine slide, mountain coaster, treetop adventure park, scenic chairlift, mini golf. Right in town, 20 min from the lodge. Great rainy-day or kid-friendly afternoon option.
World-class wildlife art on a hillside over the National Elk Refuge. Indoor + outdoor sculpture trail. ~$15 adult, kids free. ~1.5 hrs. Perfect rainy-afternoon backup.
South entrance ~1 hr 20 min from the lodge. Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, West Thumb, and the Lake area in one long day. Leave by 7 AM. Best on a lighter day if you want to add it.
If anyone wants a second ride or a kid-friendly option, Mill Iron is the classic Jackson dude-ranch ride with a dinner-cookout option. Different ranch, similar concept to the booked tour.
